I was born in Scottsbluff, NE and at age 6, moved with my family to Torrington, WY. I graduated from high school in Torrington and then went to Chadron State College. After three years at Chadron State, I was accepted into the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry program, in Lincoln, NE. While at Chadron State, working on my undergraduate studies, I met Becky, my wife. We were both in our last semester at Chadron State when we met. Becky went to Omaha to further her education in occupational therapy while I was in Dental school. I graduated with honors from dental school and in 2005 took over Dr. Dale Anderson’s practice, as he transitioned into retirement.
I knew I wanted to become a dentist during my senior year of high school. We had a class that allowed us to shadow a profession in the community for one hour per week. I chose to shadow a local dentist. Due to their office being short-staffed one day, I was able to help assist. One patient in particular stood out to me. She was in pain and we were able to take the sensitivity away from her exposed roots. To see how much relief we offered her profoundly impacted me. It was from that point on that I decided I wanted to be able to help people like that.
For me to be my best, I feel it is important to prioritize my life roles. My first priority is to fulfil my role as a follower of Jesus Christ. I became a Christian during the summer of 2000. My second most important role is to serve my family including my wife, son and daughter. My third most important role is my work as a dentist, and to serve each patient with the best of care. I take all three roles very seriously and continually strive to be the best Christ follower, husband, dad, friend and dentist that I can be. When time allows, I like to be outdoors, either up in the mountains, golfing, fishing or even just sitting on the swing with my family in the back yard.
I believe being active in my community and profession allows me to grow as an individual and to give back a little of what I have already been so graciously given. I am a member of the following associations:
• American Dental Association(ADA)
• Academy of General Dentistry(AGD)
• Wyoming Dental Association(WDA)
• American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine
Within the WDA, I am currently the NE Wyoming District Director. I am also on the Northeast region peer review committee.
Locally, I serve on the Johnson County Board of Health and immediate past President of the Wyoming Academy of General Dentistry.
